Open Invitation to Post Articles on JeremyLintel.com Site

Hello fellow Jeremy Lin fans! I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but in the Sidebar of this blog, I have an open invitation for anyone to post articles on this site commitment-free. So I just thought I’d write a post to remind every one of this in case anybody out there is interested in contributing to this site in the form of articles.

And while I’m on the subject of the Sidebar. There are a lot of useful things in the Sidebar, such as “Featured Posts”, which are posts that I think are the most compelling ones from this site. You may also notice that I have a “Donate” button for anyone who’s feeling generous and want to throw some gratitude my way for all the time and work I’ve put into this site. For those who have taken advantage of that, I want to thank you, once again, for showing your appreciation. I very much appreciate it.

Of course, I don’t want anyone here to feel like they should make a donation. I have that “Donate” button just because there are those who want to find monetary ways to thank me for what I do here. Another way to show me some monetary gratitude (without making any donations to me) is to use affiliate links on this site to purchase things that you would otherwise purchase anyway, such as Amazon products or airline/movie tickets, etc. For example, all you have to do is just do a search through the “Search Amazon.com” tool I have in the Sidebar for the product you’re looking for or just click one of the affiliate links I’ve provided in the Sidebar to the site you want to make purchases on, such as Fandango or Orbitz. If you’re going to make those purchases anyway, I would greatly appreciate it if you would use my affiliate links to do so. Please go here for more information about affiliate marketing if you’re curious as to what it’s all about.

Anyway, I created this site as a place for me to share my unique insights about Jeremy Lin and Linsanity, as well as vent, as a Lin fan, while still being as objective as I can be and not mean-spirited. But there are plenty of Lin fans here and elsewhere with very compelling insights on Lin, who also need a forum to vent. So, rather than relegating everyone’s voice (but mine) in the Comments section, I thought it could be interesting to open up this site and allow for more voices.

If you’re at all interested in posting articles on this site (no commitment or writing experience needed), just let me know by going to the “Contact” section.

Put in the subject: “I want to post on the site”. And in the email, I want you to include the following:

  • Your username
  • An email address (if it’s different from the email address you’re sending the message from)

I think you will find it very satisfying to be able to share insights or frustrations whenever you feel the urge. I know that for me, I feel very fortunate to have a platform to be able to either vent or share unique insights about Lin whenever I feel the need to.

The only criteria I have is that your posts not be mean-spirited. And, of course, no trolls allowed! You can be critical all you want and you can vent away, but do it in a constructive manner or at least not name call, etc. I know it’s sometimes not easy to do this, but just do your best. Sometimes I get the urge to name-call and be mean-spirited. So bits and pieces here and there won’t be a big deal, but I won’t hesitate to give you a warning and/or delete your post if I find any of your postings offensive or inappropriate. Also, cursing is fine with me, as long as it is not totally abused. Of course, your postings need not be critical at all. They can be just you sharing the joy of being a Lin fan or celebrating Lin’s accomplishment. Like I said, you can pretty much write about anything Jeremy Lin related, however remotely. ;)

A lot of you out there have great insights, so I do hope you take advantage of this opportunity. Please don’t think of this as any sort of commitment. There is absolutely no quota on how many articles I want you to write, etc. You can sign up with only the intention of writing one article. Or you can sign up and end up not writing any articles. That’s perfectly fine. Just think of this as a platform for you to share your insights and to vent on Lin and Linsanity whenever you feel like it, knowing that your thoughts are being read by a lot of Lin fans. I did all the hard work to build the site to the level of readership that it has, now you get to reap the benefits without doing any of the work. :)

Also, just because you email me and ask to be able to post on this blog, doesn’t mean I’ll have any expectations that you’ll be posting immediately or at all for that matter. So feel free to get the permission now so it’ll at least allow you the capability to post the moment you feel the need to post something. Please also spread the word to all Lin fans and if you see Comments from Lin fans on other sites that you really like, let them know about this invitation.

I sometimes see very long comments from Lin fans on sites like JeremyLin.net and I always think that they should have their own blog, because their insights are so compelling. And now, they can! I’m hoping this is the first step in evolving JeremyLintel beyond just my unique voice and can truly be a community for Lin fans to share their unique insights and perspectives on Lin and Linsanity. Another words, I hope JeremyLintel.com will be a place where Jeremy Lin fans truly get a voice.

  • Dear JLintel:

I have been wanting to send you a monetary contribution for awhile now but have never before used Paypal and don’t really know how to use it. Also, I wonder if it is safe and secure. As an alternative do you have a P.O. box where I could send a check. I’m very much from the Old School and while I have made many purchases online through Amazon mostly I still prefer paying for things through my credit union checking account. Also, I do have an interest in perhaps writing an article for your blog although at present I have no specific ideas for one. I’m not entirely sure what “user name” means but if it is what I think it is mine would be “cicchip.” Please advise. Thank you.

Dear old & in the way.

      Excellent!~~~

You are always humble, humorous, logical, positive, straightforward, and open-minded. I just can’t wait to read your posted article.

      Have a great weekend!~~~ 🙂
      Gary

      • Dear Gary:

Thank you for being so complimentary. Here’s wishing you a grand day also. I have survived the great California storm of December 2014. And you, too? My power was out for 3 hours but aside from that I’m still afloat and the rain was much needed. Ciao for now.

    • Thanks, very much “old & in the way”! Just the fact that you’ve been wanting to make a monetary contribution is enough for me.

But just to answer your other questions, Paypal is founded by one of the most innovative people in Silicon Valley who went on to start other great companies, like Twitter and Tesla. Elon Musk, who’s a genius of our time, is one of the co-founders of Paypal. Paypal is extremely secure and a great company. But I understand if you’re uncomfortable with it, because most people aren’t comfortable with something they’re not familiar with. If you have someone in your life who you think may be able to show you how to use it, that would be great. Otherwise, I’m sure there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to use Paypal. Even if you end up not using Paypal, it’s always nice, at least, to learn something new.

As for Amazon, all you have to do is use the “Search Amazon toolbar” that I provided to search for whatever Amazon products you’re interested in checking out. Or you can just click on any of my links to Amazon products I provide throughout this blog on the Sidebar under “My Favorites” or in Amazon products that I recommend, which are embedded in my articles. Just by going to Amazon through my sight, Amazon will give me credit for sending you to their site and will compensate me accordingly. That’s one of the ways in which Affiliate Marketing works. You can decide to pay Amazon with whatever payment method you want. That does not matter. In other words, nothing changes for you. You can do the same thing you’ve done on Amazon that you are already doing. The ONLY difference is that you’re going to Amazon through my site, rather than going onto Amazon directly. I know that’s a lot of new information to take in, but I hope I’ve made some sense. It sounds complicated, but it’s really very simple. Just use my site to go to Amazon.com by clicking links to Amazon products that I’ve provided rather than going onto Amazon.com directly if you want to help this site financially.

Anyway, thanks again for the thought. It’s the thought that counts, So don’t worry at all if you’re unable to make a donation due to lack of comfort with Paypal. But If you really really want to send me a check, then I may consider giving you my home address, but I would prefer not to. I don’t have a P.O. Box, unfortunately.

That’s awesome that you’re interested in writing. I think you’re going to really enjoy it. And you already have a lot of fans on this site who would be interested in hearing your POV and your unique voice. As for user name, that’s just simply the name you want to use to write under, like “MrPingPong” for example. You will need to send me your email address, as well, so you can have access to the site. For your own privacy, I would prefer it if you go to the “Contact” page and fill out the information I requested there. Here’s a link to the “Contact” page: http://www.jeremylintel.com/contact/

      Thanks again for your generosity!

      • Dear JLintel:

I really want to make a monetary contribution to your website so I will try to figure out how to use Paypal since you have confirmed that it is secure. But it may take me a couple of days to get the confidence to tackle it directly. I am unfamiliar with using it and that is the source of most of my resistance. But I will try to figure it out anyway and hope my efforts are successful. I will also go to the contact page and submit the personal data you have requested for posting articles on this website as soon as I can. As I have stated I don’t have any ideas for an article at the present time but hope to get some soon and look forward to the process. Ciao for now.

        • Like I said, it really is just the thought that counts. So please don’t go to too much trouble or take too much time to figure out how to use Paypal just so you can give me a donation. It really is not worth your effort. The fact that you wanted to make a donation already means a lot to me. So that, in-and-of-itself is sufficient and much appreciated.

I think it’s great that you want to at least get access to post articles on the site even though you don’t have any article ideas at the present time. Once you get permission, you can write whenever you feel the urge. And I think once you start writing, you’ll really enjoy the process.

PayPal is pretty much the de facto way for online business nowadays in the North America, such as eBay, Amazon.
