Continuously updated info/POV on Trump and this most consequential election

Please see Comments section. This post is meant to be a Forum, not an article. I hope people use this post to discuss, as well as disseminate info on this most consequential election in the Comments section below.

I’m not sure if most of you know, but I’ve been continuously posting info on this election in the COMMENTS section of my only article I’ve written about this election back on June 13th. I would have preferred to write more than just ONE article on this election, but I don’t want to annoy Lin fans, so my compromise has been to just post new information, as well as my POV, in the comments section of that June 13th article.

The problem I’m facing is that when I post links to my COMMENTS to that article on Twitter, for example, it takes a while to load the COMMENT, so people get confused because the title to that article often has nothing to do with the specific COMMENT that I’m trying to direct people to. So in order to hopefully alleviate that issue, I have decided to publish this post with a generic title and in the future I will use this post to continuously add comments and my POV in the COMMENTS section of this post, rather than my June 13th article.

I encourage anyone who wants to discuss this election use the Comments section of this article. Thanks.

  • I see a lot of trumped up charges leveled against Hillary. Sure some of them have a kernel of truth and some are true, but most are fabricated or exaggerated. If you believe them, then you’re either willfully ignorant or woefully ill-informed. If you’re sincerely interested in doing some factual research on Hillary, then I suggest you extricate yourself from whatever bubble and feedback loop in which you find yourself.

I know there is a significant portion of the population that believes strongly that that the mainstream media is biased. And it is. But if you’re one of these people, then you’re oblivious to the fact that your bias against the mainstream media is way more biased than how biased the mainstream news media really is. You’re also either oblivious to the fact that whatever niche source you get your information from is extremely biased and has an extreme agenda or you are one of its soldiers.

What you may not realize, because you’ve bought way too much into the anti-establishment, populist agenda is that the mainstream news media, such as the The New York Times, the nightly news, etc. is beholden to a set of journalistic code of ethics, which include principles of truthfulness, accuracy, objectivity, etc. For example, Jayson Blair was forced to resign from the New York Times for plagiarism and fabrication. Whatever you want to say about mainstream media news outlets, journalists there have to be very careful that they don’t violate their journalistic code of ethics. That’s why the reporters who got Trump’s partial tax returns had to do a lot of work to substantiate it before publishing their story about it. Your niche source of information is not beholden to any journalistic code of ethics. In fact, I can safely say that a lot of them are set up for the sole purpose of disseminating propaganda to further their extreme agenda.

There’s a reason why you don’t see the same shocking things about Hillary that you find on a daily basis from your niche source of information and it’s not so much because mainstream media news outlets are biased. The real reason is that those charges about Hillary contain way too much fabrication to pass any level of journalist code of ethics. Sure, some of them have a kernel of truth, but because the mainstream news media is beholden to a code of ethics, their journalists can’t grow that kernel of truth into a corn of lies. So you’re either woefully ignorant or you’re a soldier knowingly spreading trumped up charges on Hillary to satisfy an extremely biased agenda. I’m sure you’re going to say the same thing for me about Trump, but there’s no need for me to make up anything when it comes to Trump. He buries himself with his own words and his entire being.

  • If you call yourself a Christian and you support Trump, one or more of the following are true:

    – The Christian religion is perverted and spews hate
    – You’ve distorted the Christian religion to suite your own agenda
    – You’re a very confused individual and need help

  • Contrary to what Trump believes, most men don’t brag about sexual assault in locker rooms or elsewhere. It takes a certain type of man to do that. Trump is that type of man. And he’s a presidential candidate. This will never cease to be insane to me.

  • This Open Letter provides a very lengthy list of all the people/things Donald Trump has to apologize for. The deplorable thing is that this gigantic list is not anywhere near complete. http://dedicateyournotrumpvote.blogspot.com/2016/10/an-open-letter-to-donald-trump-i-reject.html

  • A competent woman just debated a man who has no idea what he’s talking about:

  • Donald Trump’s threats to imprison Hillary Clinton is a threat to democracy. It’s so obvious why he admires dictators. Trump would love a system in which he can do whatever the hell he wants. He has a mind of a toddler with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Racial tension has festered in this country, but is now at the forefront. Because Trump is a well-known public figure, his hate rhetoric and his campaign has served to normalize and coalesce racism. Yes, a too large portion of Trump’s supporters are deplorable. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

  • 34% of these people are insanely biased. I get that these people are Trump supporters, but to say Trump won the debate shows just how completely out of touch with reality these people are. A lot of people can’t see the truth do to their own biases, but this is taking it to the extreme. If these people had any shred of self-awareness, they would maybe consider what other areas in their lives have they let their extreme bias get in the way of the truth. Since they’re so wrong about who won the debate, perhaps they’ve been wrong about pretty much everything in their life due to their inability to break through their extremely biased perceptions.

If this poll is at all representative of the entire population, then that’s a very frightening thought. Even if Trump loses, now we know that a large portion of the U.S. population is, yes, deplorable. Because if you support Trump after everything you know about him, you are, indeed a deplorable human being. I knew these types of people existed, but I had no idea they existed in such large numbers: over 30%?!

Trump spent the entire debate attacking and he barely answered any questions. When he did answer questions, he showed immense ignorance of the subject matter and essentially took Russia’s position, while repudiating everything his VP said about Syria in the VP debate. On top of this, he says that he hasn’t talked to Pence lately, but that excuse shows you how thoroughly ignorant he is about the subject, because he clearly didn’t understand anything Pence said at the VP debate. He did watch the VP debate, so he didn’t need to talk to Pence to know Pence’s position on Syria. All of this SHOULD be campaign-ending, among so many things this imbecile has done.

Of course, Trump gets away with it, because his base doesn’t know any better. All his base cares about is whether or not he dominated Hillary. And they just want to hear catch phrases, such as, “radical Islamic Terrorism”, “Law & Order”, “Build a Wall”, “Lock her Up”, etc. This is because his base is only capable of thinking in catch phrases.

Hillary, on the other hand, exhibited tremendous composure. I think most people in Hillary’s situation would have punched Trump in the face for the constant barrage of Trumped up charges that he leveled at Hillary. Hillary resisted the urge to attack back and stuck to policy. She also answered the questions thoughtfully and substantively.

A CNN/ORC poll of debate-watchers shows Hillary Clinton wins the second presidential debate https://t.co/raPU4ITVcE pic.twitter.com/H7TfYqfsSM— CNN Politics (@CNNPolitics) October 10, 2016

  • People who complain that the debate was full of attacks on both sides are committing egregious false equivalence. I think what happens is that because Hillary is sharing the same stage as Trump and people don’t really play close attention or have short attention spans, they just assume that both candidates are yelling at one another even though only one of the candidates really is.

I actually thought Hillary was tremendously composed. I think a lot of people in her situation would have punched Trump in the face for all of the trumped up charges and aggressive lies he spewed at her. It was ridiculous how much he kept attacking and I think it took everything she had to not retaliate.

  • A lot of people, including pundits, were confused by Hilary’s Lincoln reference and thought Hillary was trying to pull one over us. But, since I’m familiar with this specific anecdote about Lincoln, her reference made complete sense to me and was very believable.Well, this article makes it clear that Hillary was telling the truth. http://qz.com/805005/the-leaked-email-behind-hillary-clintons-mid-debate-reference-to-steven-spielbergs-abraham-lincoln-biopic/

I think Hillary reputation has been so damaged by the tremendous amount of money and resources the GOP has spent to bring her down that even when Hillary is telling the truth (which is most of the time by the way) people think she’s lying. The problem is that when people hear the words “investigation” or “leak”, they immediately assume something nefarious is going on, but they’re too intellectually lazy to look into it.

Hillary is, in fact, so persnickety that she gets very granular with her explanations, so what I think happens is that people are not informed enough to understand her convoluted explanations, so they think she’s lying, because her explanations are too long-winded. But she’s someone who cares so much about the details and getting it exactly right that she appears to be fabricating a story when she’s in fact telling it exactly how it is. Now, I’m not saying that Hillary has never lied, but it is maddening that people have this idea that she’s SO untrustworthy.

  • Lots of great lines in this very well-written letter to Trump from a former NFL player: http://www.vox.com/first-person/2016/10/10/13230346/donald-trump-locker-room-talk-chris-kluwe

I was in an NFL locker room for eight years, the very definition of the macho, alpha male environment you’re so feebly trying to evoke to protect yourself, and not once did anyone approach your breathtaking depths of arrogant imbecility.

We talk about our fears that if a Hitler wannabe who can’t even string together a coherent statement on domestic policy becomes president, what that might mean for those of us who are married to a member of a minority community, or are a member of a minority community, or have children going to schools where hopefully nobody screams racial epithets at them or tells them to go back to [insert foreign country they couldn’t identify on a map here].
We talk about what country might make a good safe haven if a Russian-backed presidential candidate whose foreign policy agenda can best be described as “gross negligence mixed with a spicy dash of treason” were to have control of our nation’s nuclear arsenal, and whether his stubby little baby fingers are strong enough to push in the launch codes on sturdy military-grade hardware.

We talk about how all of us pay taxes, every year, and wonder what a presidential candidate might have to hide if he so stubbornly refuses to release his returns, what possible foreign debts might be lurking in that finance closet he so desperately holds shut with every ounce of his contemptible mental faculties.

Most guys respect women, some guys don’t, but never have I heard anyone use your particularly disgusting brand of sadism that refers to women as objects and not people.

We don’t let each other talk like that about women, because it lessens our humanity, and even though we’re modern-day gladiators, we still hold ourselves accountable to the idea of basic human decency.

I’ve been in locker rooms, Donald, and you’re the type of narcissistic, pants-soiling fecal eruption that just doesn’t belong.

  • FINALLY, someone showing America’s hypocrisy with Donald Trump. I’ve been saying for a while that if Trump was Asian, Black, any race or a woman, he would not be a presidential candidate. #WhiteMalePrivilege https://twitter.com/JeremyLintel/status/781671381931032576

Van Jones delves into this idea of white male privilege and Donald Trump with regard to his bragging about sexual assault. Jones says a lot of things I want to say about this subject in this video.

  • Two months ago, I mentioned that I’m deeply concerned about the DNC hacks and its ties to Russia. Now that has been confirmed by U.S. intelligence. I also wrote that WikilLeaks is doing Putin’s bidding and will try to influence the election. It looks like that is also proven to be true. Here’s a link to what I wrote two months ago on this subject: http://disq.us/p/1ak8eza

Well today there’s a very frightening article about all of this: http://www.newsweek.com/vladimir-putin-sidney-blumenthal-hillary-clinton-donald-trump-benghazi-sputnik-508635

    Here’s an excerpt:

This is not funny. It is terrifying. The Russians engage in a sloppy disinformation effort and, before the day is out, the Republican nominee for president is standing on a stage reciting the manufactured story as truth. How did this happen? Who in the Trump campaign was feeding him falsehoods straight from the Kremlin? (The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment).

The Russians have been obtaining American emails and now are presenting complete misrepresentations of them—falsifying them—in hopes of setting off a cascade of events that might change the outcome of the presidential election. The big question, of course, is why are the Russians working so hard to damage Clinton and, in the process, aid Donald Trump? That is a topic for another time.

For now, though, Americans should be outraged. This totalitarian regime, engaged in what are arguably war crimes in Syria to protect their government puppet, is working to upend a democracy to the benefit of an American candidate who uttered positive comments just Sunday about the Kremlin’s campaign on behalf of Bashar al-Assad. Trump’s arguments were an incomprehensible explication of the complex Syrian situation, which put him right on the side of the Iranians and Syrian,s who are fighting to preserve the government that is the primary conduit of weapons used against Israel.

So no, Mr. Putin, I’m not Sidney Blumenthal. And now that you have been exposed once again, get the hell out of our election. And Mr. Trump—you have some explaining to do.

  • I’ve long suspected that Assange/WikiLeaks is a surrogate for Putin. And now after reading that Newsweek story (http://disq.us/p/1covvuj) that I linked to in my previous comment, I’m even more sure of it than I ever have been before.

What if WikiLeaks was a tool for Russia to undermine U.S. institutions and, in turn, U.S. democracy? I don’t know if a lot of people are familiar with this, but Assange advised Edward Snowden to seek sanctuary in Russia. To me, that’s very suspicious, because how would Assange know that Snowden would be safe there unless Assange had some sort of assurance, because Assange has ties to Putin somehow?

When you think about it, this is a very KGB-esque. Putin is an ex-KGB, who still very much thinks like a KGB agent. He’s planted an organization, WikiLeaks, that is seen as a whistle blower to many in the U.S. Because of this perception, people see it as very trust worthy. They see WikiLeaks as being on their side against the establishment. They see WikiLeaks as bringing transparency and whenever people hear the word “transparency” they have very positive associations with it. So WikiLeaks is highly trusted and respected in the U.S. and worldwide.

But what if WikiLeaks is a tool Putin is using to undermine U.S. institutions and credibility by leaking secrets and anything that paints a very negative picture of these institutions? When you think about it, this is a brilliant strategy. WikiLeaks is used to disseminate information that Russia hacks. If Russia disseminated the information themselves, then the American public would not trust the information, but by disseminating it through WikiLeaks, Americans eat it up and trust it blindly. They also don’t stop to think that WikiLeaks has an agenda and will disseminate ONLY the information that will serve to undermine the credibility of U.S. institutions. So they take everything that comes out of WikiLeaks at face value, since they think WikiLeaks is on their side against the system. What they don’t know is that WikiLeaks does have an agenda and it’s actually Putin’s agenda to undermine U.S. credibility by sharing secrets and anything that gets Americans and the world to question the credibility of U.S. institutions and, in turn, American democracy.

  • Michelle Obama. So powerful. Must Watch. Starting at 27:00

    https://youtu.be/SJ45VLgbe_E?t=1618

  • My bleak prediction for the future. Trump will start a very powerful media company for the Alt-Right conspiracy theorists, because he realizes now that his brand/properties will be trash for the people who can actually afford them. So that’s partly why he’s been trying to appeal more and more to the Alt-Right. He realizes he can’t win the election, so he’s taking advantage of free media coverage to start establishing his brand as a voice for the Alt-Right. The Alt-Right all worship Trump like a God now.

Once Trump starts his media company, that’s when we will really see populist, anti-government and white supremacy taking hold in this country. As a result, we’ll have a rise in domestic terrorism. There is going to be violent religious wars in this country like we’ve never seen in my lifetime and Muslims, in particular, as well as other minorities will be targeted in this country by hate groups. Very scary times and a lot of it will be due to Trump wanting to make some cash.

  • Trump’s “keep you in suspense” comment is the most dangerous thing he’s said so far in a long list of very dangerous things he has said. I’m as pissed off as Olbermann about this. And everyone who cares about democracy should be raging, as well. A presidential candidate with Narcissistic Personality Disorder is destructive on a large scale. Just imagine what would happen if this mentally ill person becomes president.
